Larry's Birthday

We had an excellent weekend and birthday celebration for Larry. I will post about our various adventures during the week. Here are a few pix of the items I knit and crocheted for Larry. Yayyyyy! Success!

Larry's Green Cardigan
I asked Larry to pose, holding a hammer. So many of the vintage knitting instruction books for men have them wearing and modeling sweaters doing manly chores like hammering nails, playing golf or smoking a pipe. Larry makes an excellent model, although he really doesn't look like he's ready to fix the roof!

The tie that I crocheted for Larry out of the Koigu yarn turned out nicely. However, it's slightly squishy. The necktie needs to be of a stiffer fabric in order for it to be tied properly and stay in place. Next time, I'll either back the tie with some sort of interfacing, use a thicker stitch with a closer weave or maybe just some spray starch would help. I think if he wears a tie clip with the tie, that will keep it in place.

It was a great weekend!

I love the hammer pose. Only a pipe could have made it better.

Cardigan looks great - love the color. Rather than fixing the roof, perhaps he just went to get the hammer for hanging some artwork? And just stopped along the way so you could get a good shot of the cardigan he was wearing!

Happy Birthday Mr. Larry! That sweater looks like it was made for you. :)

Gee, Ellen, it's no wonder you've decided not to let Larry near the backyard. Ha ha.

Very handsome, the sweater looks great. Just an idea for the necktie maybe give it a bit of hot bath and it may shrink a bit.

Larry looks so cool -- he puts those vintage sweater pattern guys to shame!

The sweater and tie are really great -- Larry's so lucky to have such a talented partner!
