El Segundo Slipt Stitchers Knit and Crochet Guild

Yes, it was even hot in El Segundo on Saturday morning.  El Segundo is located just south of the L.A. International Airport, butting up against the Pacific Ocean. There is usually a nice breeze from said ocean into downtown El Segundo. NOT on Saturday. It was hot, hot, hot everywhere in the L.A. area. We managed to knit and crochet at our Guild meeting, despite the weather!
Saturday was the end of our current Knit-a-Long / Crochet-a-Long of summer ponchettes. Many made their light-weight ponchos out of cotton yarn. I was thrilled to see that at least 10 members participated!

I'm always impressed by the degree of professional yarny work that I view at our once-a-month meetings. Here are a few examples:

Susan's colorful summer top

Stephanie's Ponchette

Peggy's Creative Crochet Necklace with Beads

Detail of Laura's cotton tank top

There are close to 200 members of our Guild. There must have been at least 70 or 80 people in attendance on Saturday.

See the lemons on the table in the foreground of the photo above? There is a new project, just announced by the Craft Yarn Council of America. Read about it here. We're crocheting and knitting lemons as a group to win a cash prize for our Guild!
Lemon #1 is a bit wonky. The next lemon will be better!
